Job Summary:

The Accounting Specialist performs the analysis and data collection necessary to maintain the more difficult and complex records and ledgers related to accounting functions such as payroll, accounts payable and receivable and work in progress.

Essential Functions:

  • Collect, select, classify and compile data to prepare complex reports, tabulations, documents, records, involving extensive interpretation and analysis
  • As assigned, initiate contact or respond to inquiries with division personnel to provide or coordinate information such as schedules, costing and other matters of similar complexity; Work from established data and specifications, schedules, procedures and policies, using extensive judgment and discretion
  • Perform various posting, coding, balancing and reconciling of records and accounts, compute variances, averages, extensions as applicable
  • Prepare a variety of materials including developing own context as authorized and devising and preparing graphs, charts and layouts; Work from drafts and oral instructions
  • Prepare non-standard journal entries; Reconcile accounts
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-5 years as an Accounting Specialist or in an equivalent position
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of current accounting, office and clerical techniques, methods and practices, filing systems and equipment in area of assignment
  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all involved employees and groups; Ability to express self effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to work effectively under pressure of concurrent activity, e.g., phones, people, noise;
  • Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Accounts Payable and Three-Way Match
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Oracle
  • Associate degree

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment 
  • Standing: 10 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
