Tyonek Services Group, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Safety Representative to support aviation and occupational safety operations at Robins Air Force Base. This position is critical to reducing workplace injuries, improving hazard identification, and strengthening the Safety Management System (SMS) at the site.
The Safety Representative will serve as the on-site safety presence responsible for implementing proactive safety measures, conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), supporting hazard reporting through VelocityEHS, and promoting a strong safety culture integrated with both OSHA and Air Force safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all applicable tasks, ensuring hazards are identified and mitigated prior to work execution
- Identify and validate required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on task-specific hazards
- Ensure compliance with:
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910 standards
- Air Force and DoD safety requirements
- Company Safety Management System (SMS) policies
- Hazard Identification & Reporting
- Hazard reporting
- Incident and injury tracking
- Corrective action management
- Promote a non-punitive reporting culture aligned with SMS principles
- Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors
- Injury Reduction & Risk Mitigation
- Support efforts to reduce workplace injuries through:
- Hazard elimination and control implementation
- Monitoring trends in injuries and near misses
- Recommending corrective and preventive actions
- Participate in incident investigations and assist in identifying root causes
- Safety Communication & Promotion
- Conduct daily/weekly safety briefings with employees and supervisors
- Participate in quarterly Aviation Safety Council (ASC) meetings, hosted by the Aviation Safety Manager
- Maintain and update site safety boards, ensuring visibility of:
- JSAs
- Safety metrics
- Safety alerts and lessons learned
- Reinforce SMS principles, including hazard reporting and risk management
- Training & Compliance Support
- Assist in delivering and tracking safety training, including:
- PPE usage
- Hazard communication
- Task-specific safety requirements
- Support onboarding safety orientation for new hires
- Ensure JSAs are socialized via LMS platforms (e.g., PayCom) and in work areas
- Work directly with supervisors and production personnel to:
- Integrate safety into daily operations
- Prevent normalization of deviance
- Ensure adherence to established procedures
- Serve as the on-site safety liaison between the workforce, government and corporate safety leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles
- Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, government and leadership
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Must have experience in all aspects of safety to include OSHA requirements, documentation, HAZMAT, training/licensing/certifications and scheduling
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to pass a background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within nine (9) months of employees start date.
