Senior FP&A Analyst
Your role
Aer Lingus Finance has an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, reporting to the FP&A Manager. The Senior FP&A Analyst role is integral to the remit of the FP&A function as owners of the budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning models of the organisation. This role will be a trusted support for the FP&A Manager in addition to directly managing resources within the team.
The Senior FP&A analyst role will involve direct communication and engagement with Senior Management and Executives, providing insightful and effective financial analysis. Such financial analysis will have varying degrees of complexity, urgency and system dependency. They will also actively drive finance transformation (including evaluation of automation, data management etc.) and support various Finance and Finance system improvement processes and projects.
This is a key role with a candidate joining an inclusive team, working collaboratively with functional business areas, in a hybrid working model.
Your responsibilities as a Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst will include:
- Lead financial forecasting and planning activities including collaboration across finance and wider business to ensure appropriate inputs, assumptions and KPIs are received, ensuring adequate challenge and testing.
- Take ownership for co-ordination, collation, and critical review of inputs from stakeholders, both within and external to Finance, ensuring accurate, timely and appropriate information is shared.
- Review the core FP&A models and modelling processes and systems. This will include ensuring robustness and accuracy of data, continuous development of capabilities, automation and scalability of frameworks, appropriateness of outputs and presentation of forecasting / modelling outcomes.
- Take ownership for outputs and reports (including excel submissions and presentations to Aer Lingus senior management and IAG), ensuring that submissions are made in line with timelines, and that requests for further follow up analysis and insights are provided on a timely basis.
- Provide timely responses with an appropriate level of insight, and alignment with current commercial and operational activity, cost programmes, business cases under review etc. to various stakeholder including Aer Lingus Executive / Senior Management and IAG Group Reporting and FP&A teams.
- Design and deploy processes, reports, interfaces etc. to significantly reduce the level of manual effort involved in report delivery (ad hoc reporting, regular reporting, month end, business plans etc.).
- Train and mentor junior team members, as well as managing at least one direct report.
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent financial or economic qualification with minimum of 4 years PQE at publicly listed company or comparatively large private company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of presenting financial information to all levels of the organisation (including senior management).
- Focused attitude to work, comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to consistently meet deadlines while ensuring excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical ability and comfortable working with relatively large and complex data sets to extract key summary messages for decision making.
- Excellent understanding off all financial statements (particularly P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflows).
- Strong teamwork and partnership skills are essential to successfully performing this role.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to pass an aviation security vetting process, that includes an enhanced background check or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport as this position is based in Dublin.

Desirable criteria
Experience with planning tools such as IBM TMI or Anaplan.
Experience with ERP systems, in particular SAP 4 Hana.
Knowledge of airline or aviation industry would be a distinct advantage.
