The Columbus Engine Center (CEC) is seeking a pragmatic, technically curious, and agile individual for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer role to support the Military Engine Center of Excellence (MECoE), which maintains and overhauls the F100 and F117 engines.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining military aircraft engine overhaul workscopes, as well as any associated work instructions, to the larger operations teams. This role will offer the opportunity to refine your technical expertise and mature your understanding in the dis-assembly, repair, assembly, and testing of jet engines. The manufacturing engineer will support other functions within the Engine Center to include materials, quality, and accounts management on routine technical subjects and issues that arise during an engine’s shop visit.
What You Will Do:
Prepare, release, and manage engine workscopes and work instructions for maintenance, repair and overhaul of F100 & F117 engines.
Provide engineering support to other functional areas regarding technical issues related to quality, operations, materials, and customer support.
Develop and maintain life-limited part reports and engine specific bill-of-materials (BOM), including the incorporation of Service Bulletins/TCTOs, Airworthiness Directives, and any unique file-order requirements.
Support the troubleshooting of rejected engines in test cell. Collaborate with testing engineering on technical resolution and risk mitigation.
Seek opportunities to reduce costs and increase quality and efficiency using new materials, processes, or technology. Participate in project development and implementation.
Provide engineering support in response to production constraints as required.
What You Will Learn:
Comprehensive Technical Knowledge: This role offers the opportunity to observe and learn the fundamentals of aircraft propulsion first-hand. You will quickly expand your knowledge on engine systems & sub-assemblies while working alongside various subject matter experts. Become a holistic jet engine problem-solver.
Enhance Project Management Skills: Complementing the technical aspects of this role, there will be prominent opportunity to either develop new project management skills or continue to refine your existing project management skills. This type of role has high levels of visibility within the F117 program and is considered an excellent milestone for engineers interested in transitioning to technical program roles.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline with 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment within Engineering, Quality, Operations or Supply Chain or an Advanced Degree and 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment within Engineering, Quality, Operations or Supply Chain
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
