Join Collins Aerospace as a MBDMI Lead! We are looking for a highly motivated experienced professional to lead our MBDMI (Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives related to engineering tools development and Collins Digital Transformation strategy across product design and development at the Wheels & Brakes (WB) business unit.

You will work within a team of subject matter experts as well as independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of Engineering Tools within the constructs of the Collins Landing Systems Wheels & Brakes business. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding and leading the implementation of model-based definition principles, processes, and tools for wheel and brake design. You will ensure that the engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams leverage 3D models, product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, and digital design tools to create efficient, accurate, and high-quality designs while reducing dependency on traditional 2D documentation.

This position will be at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

  • Lead business strategy and provide direction to internal teams to effectively implement and execute model-based design practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain) to promote MBD adoption and ensure smooth integration into the development process
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in MBDMI tools, CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, Catia), and PLM systems (e.g. Teamcenter RAC and AWC), and lead the selection and implementation of the most effective solutions
  • Oversee the development and integration of 3D models, PMI (Product Manufacturing Information), and digital twins into the product design process
  • Optimize the use of 3D CAD models, and PLM systems to enable better product definition and reduce reliance on traditional 2D drawings
  • Help maintain internal MBD standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., ASME Y14.41, ASME Y14.47, MIL-STD-31000)
  • Foster collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and ensure consistency across product development stages
  • Develop/update engineering processes for CAD/PLM related to MBDMI
  • Create and maintain training and standard job instructions for application of MBDMI methods
  • Contribute to the development of goals of the discipline and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.).
  • Manage projects or processes with impact on the achievement of discipline results.
  • Responsible for coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals.
  • Provide measurable input to new products, processes or standards in operational plans to implement business strategies.
  • Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of work area.

Qualifications YOU must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience in product design and development, with a strong focus on Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing and Inspection (MBDMI) or related methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, Catia) and PDM/PLM systems
  • Experience driving implementation and managing digital transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing and digital twins.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and ensuring that all teams remain aligned to business objectives, while maintaining a customer-centric approach
  • Proven track record of driving team accountability for meeting project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Experience with PolyWorks inspection software (or equivalent)
  • Programming experience within Siemens NX tool suite
