An opportunity has arisen to join our Group Finance team as a Senior Treasury Accountant (Finance Specialist (Treasury). The role is responsible for undertaking treasury accounting functions with a focus on hedge accounting and back-office processes including month-end reporting, forecasting and project initiatives. As part of the team, you will provide input into statutory reporting processes.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting for treasury transactions including ensuring monthly reporting and forecasts are prepared in a timely manner. Provide treasury specific financial analysis to support decision making.
- Accounting for Group foreign exchange hedging and providing support for fuel and interest rate hedging.
- Analyse and present hedge accounting impact on the monthly results ensuring compliance with accounting for financial instruments under NZ IFRS
- Monitoring adherence to Treasury policies and contribute to the preparation of monthly compliance reports
- Support treasury related statutory reporting and external audit information requests
- Respond to ad-hoc treasury related queries and requests
- Ensure that new and existing systems, processes, procedures and work practices are continuously improved
- Maintaining and strengthening a sound treasury control environment
- Support project work including those associated with treasury systems (Quantum and Reval)
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders within Finance and wider organisation as well as with senior management.

To be considered you will hold a relevant tertiary and professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years proven work experience postgraduate coupled with at least 3 years in a treasury accounting function at a financial institution or large Corporate. Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of treasury instruments: FX, money spanets and derivatives coupled with understanding of financial instruments accounting (e.g., IFRS 9).
You will succeed in this role if you have a strong analytical focus, have attention to details, are deadline focused and a lateral thinker. You will also have excellent communication skills,and are comfortable dealing with multiple systems. You excel in collaborative, close-knit team environments and are committed to fostering strong, professional working relationships.
