Summary
We’re looking for an Aviation Materials Buyer to join our team and work alongside our Aviation Materials Handler to keep our parts, tooling, and equipment flowing smoothly. In this role, you’ll be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring timely delivery of aviation parts, tooling, equipment, and supplies to support our maintenance and operations teams.
You’ll negotiate with vendors, track orders, manage purchase records, and work closely with our shipping/receiving team to make sure all incoming materials meet our quality, certification, and traceability standards.
What You’ll Do
- Source and purchase aviation parts, tooling, equipment, and supplies to meet operational needs.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Regular interaction with vendors, internal departments, and the Aviation Materials Handler.
- Coordinate with the Aviation Materials Handler to maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
- Issue purchase orders and track them through delivery.
- Ensure all purchased items meet FAA regulations, company standards, and traceability requirements.
- Work with the Quality Department to confirm documentation and certifications for incoming materials.
- Research alternative suppliers and products to improve cost-effectiveness and lead times.
- Resolve any issues with delayed, damaged, or incorrect shipments.
- Monitor market trends, pricing changes, and supplier performance.
- Handle special projects and other purchasing-related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (especially in business, supply chain, or a related field).
Experience:
- 5+ years purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in aviation, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Experience with aviation parts and tooling a plus.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and databases.
Skills & Traits:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating closely with other departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with computer-based purchasing systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional walking, bending, or lifting of up to 25 lbs. when handling materials samples or verifying inventory.
Work Environment
- Full-time position in an office/warehouse environment.
