Job Description:

The PPE / Floor Inspector is responsible for monitoring maintenance floor activity to ensure compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, safety policies, and quality standards within a corporate aviation maintenance facility. This role supports a strong safety culture by conducting real-time observations, identifying unsafe conditions, and coordinating corrective actions to prevent incidents and maintain regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor maintenance floor operations to ensure proper use of required PPE in accordance with company policies, OSHA standards, and FAA safety practices.
  • Conduct routine safety walks and spot checks of hangar, ramp, and shop areas.
  • Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, and PPE non-compliance; address issues immediately and document findings.
  • Coordinate with technicians, leads, and supervisors to correct safety deficiencies in real time.
  • Verify proper housekeeping, tool control, FOD prevention, and safe work practices.
  • Support implementation and enforcement of Safety Management System (SMS) policies.
  • Document safety observations, corrective actions, and trends for management review.
  • Assist with safety briefings, toolbox talks, and employee safety awareness initiatives.
  • Support internal audits, FAA visits, and customer inspections related to safety and floor compliance.
  • Promote a positive, professional safety culture while maintaining productivity and quality.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years experience in an aviation maintenance, manufacturing, or industrial safety environment.
  • Working knowledge of PPE requirements, OSHA safety standards, and hangar safety practices.
  • Strong observational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with technicians and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently on the maintenance floor in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and AOG support.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Floor Inspector, Safety Inspector, or Quality/Safety role.
  • Familiarity with corporate aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of FAA Part 145 and/or Part 135 environments.
  • Experience with SMS reporting and safety documentation systems.
  • OSHA safety training or certification.
