The Structures Lead is a mechanic who is a working member of his/her crew and is charged with the responsibility of leading, directing, assigning, and approving the work of the other members of the crew. Structures Leads are selected for their technical skills with due consideration for their ability to lead people and accept responsibility.

• Ensure all aircraft parts/components removed from an aircraft in work that are to be routed to all applicable shops are documented by a valid service order and operations number with the work scope properly identified.
• Responsible for his/her own work and the work of his/her assigned crew and ensure all work is performed within estimated hours.
• Ensure crew members are professionally trained and qualified.
• Check work of AMTs prior to Inspection buybacks.
• Maintain and track budgets as set by the Business Planner or Production Planning Supervisor, communicating problem areas, and resolving any conflicts or discrepancies.
• Schedule work for assigned crew.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate
• Must provide own tools 
• Three (3) or more years’ experience as an accomplished sheetmetal mechanic on heavy transport category aircraft 
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb steps, and walk for long periods of time.
• Must routinely work with reference materials/manuals/publications and office supplies weighing less than 25 lbs. and occasionally move and work with materials weighting up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally subjected to noises in excess of 85 lbs.
