About this position: The Coordinator, Disability Management & Benefits is responsible for providing support to the Specialist, Benefits on disability and workers compensation claims management, return-to-work services for all employees, leave of absence administration and benefits and pension related questions.
Duties & Responsibilites:
- Support the Senior Specialist, Disability & Benefits on all disability management with workers; compensation, benefit provider, and internal departments
- Intake all accommodation requests and triage for next possible steps
- Assist with supporting all cases in relation to disability management for both occupational and non-occupational claims
- Assist with planning, coordinating and managing all activities related to the employees application for Short Term, Long Term Disability and workers compensation benefits
- Monitor, research, analyze and report on changes in WSIB and Human Rights legislation, policies & trends for impact on the disability management program
- Main point of contact for the employee and management related questions regarding the benefit program and Employee Assistance Program
- Advise employees and management on all Leave of Absence questions and inquiries and maintain communication with employees and management regarding return to work
- Work closely with Payroll Department to ensure accurate disability and leave related HRIS inputs and pay
- Assist new hires with Retirement Plan and Benefits paperwork
- Collect and analyze data and prepares applicable reports and proposals
- Other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Good understanding of federal legislation including the Canada Labour Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, Workers Compensation, and Health and Safety legislation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential issues with discretion, tact and diplomacy
- Strong interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) and conflict resolution skills to deal effectively with multiple stakeholders- Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, team-oriented environment while ensuring accuracy, confidentially and effective time management
- Committed to continuous improvement and display a high level of initiative, creativity and enthusiasm
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet; experience with HRIS preferred
- CHRP designation an asset
- Experience working in a unionized environment an asset
- Ability to communicate in lnuktut an asset
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
