Department:EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety)FLSA Status:ExemptReports To:EHS Director US OperationsDOT/NON-DOT:NON-DOTPosition Summary:Oversees and develops environmental, health and safety and compliance policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Directs all operations regarding security and facility requirements within the operation. Expectation is to consistently meet set KPIs, set clear expectations for supervisors and hold them accountable to those expectations, and ensure 100 safety compliance at all times.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:Manages environmental, health and safety compliance programs and actions to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
Directs the inspection of work practices safety and safety hazards; and work areas to ensure the presence of appropriate fire protection equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
Provides interface with and required information to government agencies, such as but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, local level Department of Environmental Protection, and the Regulatory and Environmental Services Department Air & Water Quality Division.
Oversees the proper use and handling of hazardous materials.
Approves environmental, health and safety training related to North State operations.
Develops, reviews and updates workplace safety and environmental compliance rules and policies.
Ensures the proper sample collection of hazardous materials, gasses, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysis or testing.
Reviews all accident reports for cause and prevention of recurrence, investigating accidents as necessary.
Orders suspension of activities that pose threats to workers health and safety.
Maintains employee accident and injury records.
Maintains and updates emergency response plans and procedures.
Posts annually an OSHA report referencing 29 CFR 1904.
Provides inputs for annual budget for area of responsibility using historic consumption and forecasted workload.
Manages the security oversight to the building.
Interfaces with external vendors regarding security, including those involving access control and CCTV.
Ensures the documentation of environmental, health and safety inspections as required.
Initiates and recommends approval of personnel actions including PTO, pay changes, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and leaves of absence.
Interviews, selects and/or recommends hire of employees; and provides appropriate training for departmental personnel.
Administer the Drug and Alcohol Safety Program in compliance with DOT/FAA regulations, ensuring North State meets all federal and state requirements; coordinate testing procedures, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with third-party vendors to support a safe and compliant workplace.
