Responsibilities
- Development and execution of the facility safety program to meet OSHA, ACA, PBNDS and contract compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with corporate safety manager for technical guidance.
- Developing and executing Safety Training program per contract requirements; blending safety training into pre-Entry on Duty and annual refresher training curriculums.
- Conducting daily safety inspections of installed safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, etc.
- Reviewing work requests as necessary to repair any device found to be unsafe.
- Inspecting various areas for sanitation compliance such as food preparation and service areas, restrooms, showers, etc.
- Research training resources and materials to enhance employee safety through training. Maintain library of safety training materials.
- Provide safety training to employees as required.
- Ensure facility compliance with PBNDS, ACA, OSHA, and contract safety requirements.
- Conduct safety investigations into workplace injuries and provide reports to the Project Manager and Corporate Safety Manager.
- Develop proactive safety programs to increase employee awareness of workplace safety and reduce workplace injuries.
- Maintaining injury report data and any OSHA required reports/logs.
- Manages and implements programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
- Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
- Manages and coordinates safety activities, through subordinate supervisory personnel, to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout program.
- Identifies and appraises conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
- Conducts research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operation, or process.
- Devises methods to evaluate safety program and conducts or directs evaluations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the fields concepts and principles.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
- Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
- Typically requires BA and 5-7 years.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience with program development and oversight of various OSHA programs and facility safety programs or a combination of education and experience totaling 5 years. The preferred candidate will have actual ICE detention experience or corrections safety officer experience.
- HS Graduate or GED.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in various Microsoft Office Suite.
- Organizational skills commensurate with position.
